Being a graphic designer, I’m prone to deadline induced bouts of creative block. A lot of great design blogs run posts that are basically lists of cool things that their contributors have run across, that other designers might be able to draw inspiration from.
Since our next 5 course isn’t until 4/17 (yup, we’re available for sunday suppers), I’ve been putting my brain to work on the apps that we’ll be offering up on 4/2 and quickly coming to the realization that I’m brain dead.
I find that the best way for me to become inspired without blatantly ripping off recipes is to look at pictures of haute cuisine without the benefit of descriptions, they become abstract works of art with hints of familiarity (some food is more recognizable than others) and from there either trying to riff on the concept or at the very least getting an idea of the type of ingredient I’d like to use. Also, being a designer, I can’t help but be drawn to the graphic design used by high end establishments. Below is a collection of a few things that I ran across today:
